Sudanese Rehabilitation Center for The Blind

The Sudanese Rehabilitation Center For The Blind In my project of the Sudanese Rehabilitation Center for the Blind I wanted to focus on how this group of people could overcome their disability and prove their capabilities by education and pursuing careers. Being blind could not stop them from making their dreams come true When I first started exploring their center I felt for them, I had many feelings overwhelming me that moments. I was sad for the limited resources of the center and how little it could provide them with. After getting to know those people and watching their activities closely I realized that they have taught me a great lesson in life. Disability is never a physical thing when there is persistence in the heart. Ismail Eltahir Manager of The Sudanese Rehabilitation Center For The Blind ,tells the story of the 1987 establishment. Established in cooperation with a Dutch organization,This important life changing facility has seen light and started enlighting and and training for the blind. The organization provided furniture, educational equipment, teachers, trainers, experts, budget conduct, and a fixed location for 5 years. Then the center became financially dependent on scarce governmental funding and charity. The first team of mentors whom were trained by Dutch experts , became experts themselves. After a while of practicing they became mentors with great expertise . The Sudanese Rehabilitation Center For The Blind provides academic education, social rehabilitation, computer courses, pottery, gardening and handcrafts like leather products and home decorating accessories . It also has an audio library and a Brialle library. The center rises awareness for the blind and partially sighted persons through seminars, lectures ,and exhibitions as well as the cultural events. The Sudanese Rehabilitation Center For The Blind also offers its services to blind students in many universities and helps them in studying by recording lectures and notes on phones, flashes memory sticks or in mp3 format , as well as smart audio application programs for the blind and the visually impaired.
